I was really impressed with tonight ... while it still felt not quite as cohesive theme-wise as some episodes have been, there were moments where it was a return to the fun-ness that a lot of the episodes had near the beginning of the series. It was a stand-out episode for several characters, and it definitely made me question where they're going with things next week, and next season. Firstly, Izzie and George. While I liked them at the beginning of the series, neither of them has ever been my favourite character, but it felt like tonight was a return to some of the things that I did like about them. I liked the mix of George running around and getting all flustered and things, but at the same time taking charge in some ways. Him and Tuck? So adorable. I've always liked the relationship he has with Bailey, and it was nice to see more of that. Pretty sure if it had been almost anyone else she would have yelled at them to get lost, but they obviously have a pretty special bond. I liked that we got to see more of why he lets himself be made into the chief's special intern. Similarly, Izzie has been showing for the last week or so that she's actually competent. I was kind of annoyed last week that she chose that particular moment to realize it, but it works. I'm just glad the whole storyline with her and Alex and Ava isn't going to drag on for a million years. I like that I was right about her not lying, and actually believing that she was pregnant. It seemed really out of character for her otherwise. I'm not sure what to make of them, though. On the one hand, I like how this whole mess has made Alex behave, and I like the guy that he became by the end of the episode. We've seen glimpses of that man before, like with Izzie after the prom, and it's always really nice to see. Then again, I think it's dumb that he's the guy who's being put in that position. She does have a husband, after all. And a child? Even if she's forgotten that, nobody else has. Then again, I've never bought a relationship between them in the first place. I thought that was introduced way too abruptly last season when it was decided that Addison and Alex couldn't happen because she was leaving. Then again, I don't want him to turn to Izzie after Ava leaves either. I liked the stuff with Bailey. I was unhappy with the fact that it seemed as though she and her husband had just given up, so any hint that they are trying to make it work makes me happy.
