Army confers Gawad Kaunlaran award to DavNor Gov by Noel Baguio

DAVAO DEL NORTE -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) conferred the Gawad Kaunlaran Award to Davao del Norte Governor Rodolfo P. del Rosario for his invaluable support and commitment to the army’s peace-building activities.

Eastern Mindanao Command commanding officer Lt. Gen. Arturo I. Tabaquero presented the award to the governor during the Anniversary Program of the 44th Araw ng Davao del Norte on July 1, 2011 at the RDR Gym, Mankilam, Tagum City.

The Army bestowed the Kaunlaran award to Gov. del Rosario for his meritorious and invaluable achievements in the pursuit of socio-economic development and non-combat activities of the armed forces of the Philippines, as the governor of the province.

1003rd IB Commander Col. Lysander Suerte read the citation, highlighting the pro-poor, human-centered development strategy of the governor, which resulted to significant inroads, not only in improving security and quality of life of the people in the province, but also in the AFP’s internal peace and security plan.

The army specifically commended the all-out support of the governor to the various peace-building activities of the 1003rd Infantry Brigade based in Sto. Tomas Davao del Norte.

These activities include the conduct of the peace and development outreach program of the army, such as the multi-sectoral peace forum, peace advocacy day, youth leadership summit, school peace and development outreach program, and the launching of the medical dental and civic action program, lakbay-lumad educational tour, among other activities.

The great assistance of the province led to the success of the various PDOPs of the army, which contributed immensely to improving the well-being of the people of Davao del Norte, revealed the award.

The army further mentioned the development strategies employed by the governor from his previous terms down to his present administration that has truly improved the lot of the people.

Col. Suerte said the present thrust of the province align well with the new people-centered thrust of the AFP to “win the peace” across the country and to end Asia’s longest-running Maost insurgency.

The programs of the governor, he said, earned the lasting admiration and gratitude of various sectors, including the military sector.

Educational Plan Options in the Philippines – A Mother's

I just finished discussing with a client thru YM on what are her options for an educational plan for her daughter Luna, one year old and turning 2 this July.

At first, we were discussing about figures, at 3k a month , how much will she get 15 or 16 years from now. And when I told her around 200k-500k, her next question struck me. She asked ‘ Will that be enough for college 16 years from now? (a very educated question I must say). Oo nga naman, may tama xa. Yes, that’s true. Most of the time, we get retirement plans or education plans for some purpose that we don’t know the exact figures that we will need when that time comes.

So I told her, ‘Ok, since you’ve brought that up, let me prepare an extensive educational plan for Luna. So I asked her additional questions that will lead us to the question ‘Will that be enought for her education 16 years from now? Here’s what we got.

Here are the assumptions that we factored in.
