The birthday toast is 25 years of hospice care
A CHARITY coffee morning is being served up at Heighley Gate Nursery and Garden Centre to mark a milestone anniversary.
The Morpeth outlet is hosting the event in aid of one of its charities of the year, St Oswald’s Hospice, which is celebrating 25 years of providing care.
Free tea and coffee will be served, with customers asked to make a donation to the charity instead of paying, while busking-style band Few Broth will provide the entertainment.
Visitors can also watch free craft and cupcake making demonstrations, buy gifts such as bookmarks and greeting cards made by the centre’s Craft and Coffee Club, and take part in a charity tombola and lottery.
Staff will be designing celebratory birthday cupcakes for the hospice to sell to customers in support of the facility.
Events Co-ordinator Sarah Tait said: “St Oswald’s Hospice is one of the garden centre’s charities of the year so we thought it would be great to host the coffee morning to help the organisation celebrate 25 years of caring for patients in the North East. We hope lots of people from the area come along to the event and help us support this worthy cause.”
The hospice provides care for adults, young people and children who have life-limiting conditions.
The coffee morning takes place at Heighley Gate, off the A697, on Wednesday, from 9.30am to noon.
