Story times, 80s concert in the park, 5K, 'Ragtime'

Story times are offered Thursday and Friday at Cornelius and Davidson public libraries and Davidson’s Main Street Books . There’s the UpGrade Lifestyle 5k and Kids Fun Run in Birkdale and Summer Singles Party & Dance for singles over 45 at the Palace in Cornelius on Saturday. Also on Saturday, you’re invited to eat out on the dog friendly patio of Coral Sushi with your dogs and learn about the Great Dane Friends rescue. Davidson Community Players’ presentation of “Ragtime” continues this weekend. Great Dane - Albie - Extra Large - Adult - Male - Dog | Baltimore ...
Albie is a 5 1/2 year old white deaf male with a large heart shaped black spot on one side and natural ears. He was turned into rescue when his owner's work schedule changed and he wasn't happy spending long days home alone. Albie has recently been diagnosed with Wobbler's, but we have found that a very low dose of prednisone really does wonders for him. In looking at his vet records, we believe that Albie has been living with Wobbler's since at least 2007, when he was about 1 1/2 years old. The only thing that he is not able to easily navigate is long flights of steps. Albie is currently living with 2 young children, a male Dane and a male Dane/lab mix, as well as a cat. He is wonderful with everything and everyone in the home. He does get a bit barky when others get too close to his foster Mom while he is out on his daily walks. Albie would do best in a home with little or no steps, as he does not do well on steps. His foster home is 2 levels and he is fine with sleeping in the living room as long as his family spends most of the day with him. Albie is trustworthy in the house when left alone. He is an absolute sweetheart who wins the heart of everyone he meets! Albie will need a fenced yard and a canine companion in his forever home.
